by W C Flushing
So far we have received 88 reviews of Queen Victoria's Potty (Superloo). You can read them below - or why not add your own review?
Charlotte from Year 6, Saltersgate Primary School:
I thought this book was going to be hilarious from the
beginning and to me it was not. The beginning takes a long time
to get into action.
Callum from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
This book is about a time travelling toilet. Superloo and Finn
travel back in time to try and save one of the Superloos' old
Victorian toilet ancestors.
I liked how they called trousers unmentionables and whenever we
say 'I need the loo' they say 'I need to pluck a rose'.
My favourite character was Superloo, he thinks very highly of
himself and is a very 'stuck-up' loo! In a way that makes hime
funny.
I disliked this book when they were in the cial cell as I
thought it was a little bit boring.
This book is an adventure story.
Jack from Year 5, Adwick Park Junior School:
Jack from Year 6, Saltersgate Primary School:
I have read another in this series and I would have gave it 10
but this one was not as good and like stated on other reviews
it takes a while to get into action but once the book does it
is funny not hilarious.
Bobbie from Year 6, Mexborough School:
I think this book is really good and I think that the cover is
quite silly and I think that any young child would enjoy
reading this book.
Jess from Year 6, Edlington Victoria Primary School:
This book is so utterly boring I fell asleep reading it at home
(i am not joking) but my best friend chloe really loves it so
it might just be its not my type of book so still read it.
sarah from Year 8, North Doncaster Technology College:
The book was very boring and i just couldnt get into it.
But other people have different opinions
2 out of 10
cheers!!!

Bronte from Year 6, Tranmoor Primary School:
7/10
This book is very funny.
But it is sort of boring when you get to the half way point
(not that boring though). It is Still Funny.
GREAT BOOK!!!!
Jay from Year 10, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:
I liked the way that the author uses the old fashioned
victorian terminology. I have read many of this authors other
books and they were also very good. I would recomend this book
to any keen reader out there.
Ruby from Year 7, Hayfield School:
I absolutely loved this
book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was such a good book and I really enjoyed it. I will not
spoil for anyone who wants to read it but I thought what Queen
Victoria did for snake was so nice and friendly.
Ruby from Year 7, Hayfield School:
I absolutely loved this
book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was such a good book and I really enjoyed it. I will not
spoil for anyone who wants to read it but I thought what Queen
Victoria did for snake was so nice and friendly.
I did get a bit confused with the part when Mr Lew
Brush was at the protest with the statue of Prince Albert.
I thought it was a bit of a slow introduction but not
that long but after that I couldn't stop reading it.
I would advise you to get your hands on this book as
quickly as you can.
Megan from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:
This book is boring i would give it 0 out of 10 if i could but
the least is 1. This book is so hard to follow. This book has
put me of off the author it looks such a good book but it isn't
inside. My best bit was when Queen Victoria helped the snake,
it was just so sweet and kind, but 1 best bit out of a full
book just shows how bad it really was. It is about Finn and
Superloogo back into time to try and help a old victorian
ancestor.
0/10 really.
Megan from Year 10, Ridgewood School:
This was a very funny story about Queen Victoria and the
Overture toilet. Great comedy and a great storyline,...another
great DBA
Jemimah from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:
This book is about a time traveling toilet called superloo.
Superloo and his friend, Finn go back in time to help a
victorian toilet ancestor. The only toilet that's alive in this
book is Superloo because none of his ancestors are alive
(Superloo just feels connected about them). This book was a
good adventure story and it has a good ending.
christopher from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
I think the book was very funny and intresting
Helena from Year 6, St Albans Primary School:
I thought this book was a bit too silly, it was not as funny as
people made it out to be!
The beginning took ages to get used to, it was just so
difficult!
I would give it a 3, personally.
Abbie from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:
I loved this book to pieces I might even buy it when it is out.
I liked the cover I would give it a 10 out of 10. I will not
tell you what this book is about because I dont want to give
away the story.
Claire from Year 6, Hatchell Wood Primary School:
I did not like this book it was confusing.I would not recommend
this to any one it was rude.
Chartlotte from Year 5, Owston Primary School:
Queen Victoria's Potty is a very funny book! I would recommend
it to children who love excitement and adventure. It is the
best book I have read so far.
I love it!
charlotte from Year 6, Edlington Victoria Primary School:
I really did not aprove of this book it was utterly boring (at
the beggining to middle).
it did sort of get 21% more intresting from the middle to end.
But it is seriously not my type of book AT ALL.
I could not be bothered to read although I am quite glad I did
not give in reading it as it got a bit more intresting. I would
say that this book was for about year 5's
Rachel from Year 6, Adwick Park Junior School:
Superloo is really funny and I like it when they go back in
time in a toilet and they have to get rid of the toilet
thieves!!!!!!!!!!
Fern from Year 6, Edenthorpe Hall Primary School:
I think this book is great to read. I loved the book. When you
read it you will probably like it too because I did. I think
Lew brush for a name was a bit bizarre but I enjoyed it a lot.
It is a good book for those who like funny stories.
jay from Year 5, Adwick Park Junior School:
boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!
bob from Year 5, Adwick Park Junior School:
0 out of 10
Chloe from Year 5, Edlington Victoria Primary School:
This book is really good and I love the story line but it's a
little bit childish for me. Queen Victoria's Potty (Superloo)
would be younger children's dream book but I wasn't too keen on
it. Although it is very humorous, it is younger child-friendly.
thomas from Year 6, Edenthorpe Hall Primary School:
this book was realy good. I liked all of it. moo
from Year 8, Rossington All Saints School:
This book was the most boring book I have ever read. It was
about a magic toilet that goes back in time. It was the most
awful book on the long list. SO WHY WAS IT SHORTLISTED?????
WHY??? I gave it 1 out of 10.
Zahra from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:
I really like this book and it is very funny but it could be
more interesting.
I think Iwould give it 90%.
My favourite character was Queen Victoria.
She is really good.
Thank you
thomas from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:
I would give this book 6 because it's hard to get in to the
begining of the book. l like the book but it's not one of my
favorite's. WC Flushing is a very taled man but l think he do
beter. l've read some more of his book's and l think they are
better then this one. I would reccomend this to children under
the age of 7.
David from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:
I think it's good at the middle and end but at the start it's
hard to get into but it's exciting. But most of all I thought
to myself and said W C FlushIng could have done a million times
better if he concentrated. (I really do!) AND IT'S TOO EASY.
david from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:

steven from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:
i didnt like this book its usless i dont like it so i think its
a 1 its very boring and i wouldent read it agen bahhhh
kit from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:
Im not keen on this book because the front cover is
perswaysive, and with it like that you might think like I id
that is was a poem or rap book but inside its just a boring
story book. So my marks are only for the front cover.
Thomas from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:
This book is not very good.
Daniel from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:
If I had a version of Queen Victorias Potty and if I had a dog
Iwould give it to my dog so he could tear it to pieces but that
will never happen! The only thing I did like was the toilet. I
wish my toilet would do that!
Sian from Year 9, Ridgewood School:
I thought Queen Victoria's Potty was a great laugh, it was
exciting weird and interesting at Parts.I did not think i would
enjoy the read but actually i did. The front cover of the book
looked silly and daft that is why i chose it. It was not my
favirote DBA book because i thought it was just a little bit
over silly. Overall It Was a good book and i would recommend it
to young readers,and daft people
GREAT BOOK !!!

GREAT BOOK !!!
Emily from Year 10, Ridgewood School:
This book was brilliant!!!
My favourite Character has got to be Queen Victoria because she
is really funny ever time she sits on the potty.
My favourite part of the story is when the time travelling
potty takes Queen Victoria to a potty shop.
On the last few pages there are thing to do such as wordsearch,
take Queen Victoria to the potty, find which way the royal train
is going all of these were really good and itis a goood thing
to end the book.
Also it has got a fact page and people can find out what happen
in the Victoria's times and when was the first potty factory
open and all that, but there is only a pge of the fact, but i
thought is was really intertesting.
Over all i really like this book and thought it was
excellent!!!!!!
Lara from Year 6, Saltersgate Primary School:
Althought I thought this book was good I also thought it was
rather bad. After reading all the other reviews, also reading
my friend Charlotte's, I thought well obviously this book won't
be good. Still, I read it and I thought it was alright. I
couldn't understand where I was or who was talking! So I shall
give it a 5/10
Megan from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:
The book is really exciting I read it in a week and it kept me
wanting to read on and on until i had finished it
jessica from Year 5, Owston Primary School:
Queen Victorias potty by W.C Flushing is quite funny, but also
strange. Only 5-10, sorry!
I would reccomend this to boys around 4 to 11.
Ana from Year 5, Owston Primary School:
i thought this book was boring when i saw it i thought it would
be wicked but its not and it was really hard to get into
BORING!
from Year 5, Adwick Park Junior School:
Queen Victoria's Potty is a very cool and funny book! I would
recommend it to children who like humour, excitement and
adventure. It is one of the the best books I have read in this
series so far.
I love it!
You will love it!
So read, read, read it!!!
Heather from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
The main character in this story is the superloo toilet and Mr
Lew Brush, who travels in time with her.
I found this book very easy becasue the words were very small
and pronouncable and were a big size.
The settings in this story were very good because they were in
a different times of the world.
It was okay because it was funny and because the settings were
extremely good times to set in it.
I liked this story because it was funny and made me laugh.

Matthew from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
Queen Victoria's Potty is about a toilet that has a brain in
Victorian times and they are trying to stop Lord Grippers
faking potties to sell to the queen.
Daniel from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
This book wasn't really funny although it was supposed to be!
The main character Finn meets is Snake, well he is the 2nd main
character. Finn was first. Finn ins't even adventurous - he
gets talked into it! I would recommend this book to someone
who likes adventures.
Kieran from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
I liked this book because it is histroical and I like the
characters because they travel around the world.
Abbigail from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
It is about a boy, a toilet and a toilet brush!
The toilet is a time travelling machine and they travel into
the Victorian times...
This is a book for people who like a little laugh.
Reece from Year 6, Mallard Primary School:
I liked the book because it has lots of humor. It also had facts
about the olden times. I thought that the futuristic toilet
Superloo and that he can float in mid air. Also Lew brush is
funny.
Anonymous from Year 7, Sandringham Primary School:
I thought this book was not appealing to me. You could only
understand the story if you have had read the other books and I
have not read the others so it was all confusing to me. It was
only occasionally funny not all the way thorough so overall I
did not enjoy it.
Sarah from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
It took me quite a while to get into this book but when I
reached the 3 - 4th chapter
I started to understand what it was like. This book isn't
really my kind of thing but I still thought it was funny!
from Year 5, Adwick Park Junior School:
This book makes you roll with laughter some times in the book.
If you like silly and daft books then this is the perfect one
for you. There are all sorts of unusual and stupid names such
as Thomas Crapper...
This book is about a potty plot, which is all started by a mean
potty maker, and it is up to Finn and his companions to save
the day.
Abigail from Year 9:
I like this book because when you sit on the toilet it sing's
to you and it play's music and it is very adventures and this
book i think that it should go in the vote
Amelia from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:

Clayton from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
I thought it was really funny and really enjoyed the time
travelling idea of a toilet.
Travis from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:
Queen Victorias potty is quite a good book by W C Flushing (tut
same old joke). This book is part of the super loo saga. Super
loo is toilet that was accidently built with a top secret
microchip, so now it travels through time saving it's
ancesters, like king tuts golden toilet. It is a very good book
and I would definitely recommend it.
Andrew from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:
this book is one of the most funny book I have ever read the
author is a genius. I would not be suprised if the author makes
more of his books if he did he would be a millionnaire please
please please make more funny books.
Hannah from Year 9, McAuley Catholic High School:
There is no way this book should have got through. Ut was very,
very boring and stupid. What were the voters thinking? Why did
they choose such this book? Why?
Ben from Year 8, Hall Cross School:
WHAT A STUPID BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sarah from Year 10, Hatfield High School Visual Arts College:
This was the most boring book I have ever read. It shouldn't
have got to the short list. DON'T READ IT!!! you'll hate it!
Sarah from Year 10, Hatfield High School Visual Arts College:
This was the most boring book I have ever read. It shouldn't
have got to the short list. DON'T READ IT!!! you'll hate it!
Jack from Year 6, Mallard Primary School:
This book wasn't very good, it made no sense what so ever, it
got me bored easily therefore I didn't read it to the end.
Carrie from Year 11, Hayfield School:
I'd give it a 0, but it's not an option. BORING!!!!!!!!!
Rhianne from Year 6, Mallard Primary School:
I didn't like this book because I couldn't follow the story
very well and I got bored easily.
Jess from Year 5, Hayfield School:
This book is disgusting and unessecery. I did not enjoy reading
it at all. I got so bored by reading the first few chapters I
put it back down straight away.
I do not recommend this to anyone.
Jack from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:
Queen Victoria's Potty has to be the silliest book in the long
list, or now, the short list. It is a book full of jokes about
a boy called Finn and his toilet companion, Superloo. Finn and
Superloo go back to the past in their adventures, and in this
book, they are travelling to the Victorian times to retrieve
the 1812 Overture Toilet, one of Superloo's toilet relatives!
It all seems so simple at first, but when Finn realises someone
is in danger, he is forced to stay in history for a little
longer than he wants to. Can he rescue whoever is in trouble?
Read the book to find out! Yes, I am sorry, I know I haven't
told you much about this book yet, have I, but the only trouble
is, this storyline is so simple, that if I tell you a little
bit more, I would be giving away the whole plot to the story!
So I am afraid you will have to read this one for yourselves!!!
I have to say, I can't believe that this book has reached the
short list. It has not got a good storyline at all and the
jokes are terrible to be perfectly honest! I would recommend
this book to the younger readers out there because I think this
book is a little too silly for older readers. Sorry, I know I
am being really harsh to this book, but I just HATE it. I think
this book is a disgrace to the shortlist. Ok, I think I have
said enough bad things about this book, so I will try to say
some good things. This award is decided by the children, and
looking at the short list this year, the comedy genre of books
are still in, e.g. Shadow Goblins, so this underdog has a good
chance of winning!!!! I can't believe I just said that!!! Ok,
now to rate this book. I don't want to be too horrible because
it is christmas, so I shall be very, very, very kind today and
rate this book a 5/10.
Joe from Year 5, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:
I totally agree with hannah. This book is stupid and boring. I
read two chapters and had to give up. It was so awful.
Sophie from Year 6, Edlington Victoria Primary School:
I thought I would really like this book, but after I started
reading, I was really disappointed. It was stupid.
Anna from Year 7, Sunnyfields Primary School:
the book was boring, but I thought the author's name was funny,
so I gave it a 2.
Alice from Year 9, Danum School Technology College:
i really hated this book. Why was it short-listed? I got bored
after the first few pages. I wouldn't recommend this book to
anyone.
Lauren from Year 6, Stirling Primary School:
I really hated this book. it was boring.
DON'T READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
from Year 6, Arksey Primary School:
Seriously. This book was awful. SO WHY WAS IT SHORTLISTED????
It was absolutely ridiculous! It was about a magic toilet and
his friend (toilets can't have friends. Or talk.) and they go
back in time (Toilets can't do that either!!!). How stupid is
that? How did it get on to the short list? I gave it 1 out of
10.
jessica from Year 5, Owston Primary School:
This book holds amazing facts from ages ago, about Queen
Victoria the 1st. I have learned alot from the others in the
series, but this is definetly the best. If you like history and
clips of mystery, this ones for you.
from Year 7, Hatfield High School Visual Arts College:
This book was a complete waste of time. I wish I hadn't read
it. There were lots of good books that could've been short
listed, but weren't, because of this book. It was stupid and
boring. DON'T READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from Year 10, Danum School Technology College:
This book was such a waste of time. I thought it would be good,
but when I started reading it , I realised it wasn't. I
couldn't finish reading it. I really hated it. It shouldn't
have been short listed. It was a waste of a read.
None given from Year 9, McAuley Catholic High School:
I was really disapointed with the short list this year as all
the books are rubbish (aside from Teachers Dead) But this one
really outdid its self with its rubbishness. Its about a
toilet. A time travelling toilet. And queen victoria. I am not
amused. The option of 0/10 is not available so i'll give it
one.
Becca :) from Year 9, North Doncaster Technology College:
This book is really really fun. Loved it all.
Becca from Year 9, North Doncaster Technology College:
This book is really really fun. Loved it all.
from Year 5, Adwick Park Junior School:
I can't believe this book got onto the short list!! It was so
boring, I couldn't finish reading it. Mad Dogs was lots better
and that didn't get onto the short list. So why did this?
rachel from Year 6, Intake Primary School:
i loved this book because of the laughter and i really liked
acting it out with my class .i would definatly give this book
10 out of 10 !
from Year 10, McAuley Catholic High School:
I hated this book. We were not amused.
James from Year 9, Hatfield High School Visual Arts College:
I thought that this book had a lot of humour, and just reminded
me of being back in Primary School, learning about the
Victorians (that was a long time ago). When I was reading this
book Doctor Who was on the TV, and it clicked in my head that
the phone box in Doctor Who and super loo are both time
machines. It was clear that the people who travelled in the
machines are travel lords, the plot was straight forward to
follow as some books had flash backs and I just get confused,
this one was a good story to follow. The characters act and
speak the way I would expect them to. What I liked is that
there are not too many characters, and if they meet someone
they would say hello and move on to another character. I
thought the style of written is brilliant for this book, when I
read the book I was always in a good mood because the
craziness inside the book. I don’t think there was a point
when I wasn’t laughing, it was that good. (I must say if you
like a good book or bit of a comedy I suggest this one for
sure) now for the bit you have all been waiting for the score,
but just before that, I really think that I’m going to go to
the book shop and get this book it is amazing, I don’t think I
could say one negative thing about this book, so the score, it
has got to be a big ten out of ten the writer is amazing I
don’t think I have read a book this funny in along time.
alex from Year 5, Sandringham Primary School:
this is the most worst book i have ever read. PLEASE PLEASE
GIVE ME IT A 0 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WILL GIVE THIS BOOK 0/10
Thomas B from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
I thought that it was funny but i didnt like it because it was
a bit boring.
Kyle from Year 10, Ridgewood School:
I found this book could be funny at times but also very weird
at times. The toilet jokes made me groan in frustration though.
Anna from Year 7, Hayfield School:
THE FRONT COVER OF THIS BOOK PUT ME TOTTALLY OFF READING IT!!!
Melissa from Year 6, St Peter's Catholic Primary School:
This book was quite good.i liked the funny words that are in it
like booby and poo!!! It is about a time travelling toilet who
goes to the victorian times and tells its friend finn that he
can pick up dog poo like the victorian children did.
Superloo is the toilet's
name.the toilet can talk and time travel because he has the
wrong chip in him. He is a very clever toilet.
