Bradley from Year 7, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:

This book is another in the CHERUB series, about a group of
children and teenagers who are trained as spies. In this story
two spies infiltrate a gang known as 'Mad Dogs', after a girl
who had infiltrted the 'Slasher Boys' got stabbed.
I liked the style in which it was written and I liked the
general idea for the book.
My favourite character was James Adams because he is cunning
and clever - a natural spy!
I would recommend this book because it is funny and good, and
also suitable for older readers.

Luke from Year 7, Ridgewood School:

I thought it was absolutely RUBBISH!!

craig from Year 11, North Doncaster Technology College:

This book is good. It shows us how real the world can be. It
could do with being more discriptive and fast paced. It's not
as good as some of his other book in the series of Cherub but
is part of the collection and needs to be there to help the
next book 'The General' make sense.

Amelia from Year 9, North Doncaster Technology College:

Mad Dogs is part of a series about an organisation called
CHERUB who train children to be spies. The main characters are
James Adams and his sister Lauren. In this book two members of
CHERUB infiltrate a gang called Mad Dogs.
The book is written in a pacy, dramatic style and is action
packed whilst still being realistic. The author puts a lot of
emphasis on the characters and how they relate to each other
and by the end of the book you feel as though you know the
characters. Although the children are spies they still act like
normal children and it is easy to relate to them.
This book held my attention from start to finish and once I had
started it, I found it impossible to put down. Anyone who likes
action packed spy books with lots of humour will really enjoy
this book.
I highly reccommend this book, although it may not be suitable
for young readers.

Hannah from Year 9, McAuley Catholic High School:

I thought this book was brilliant! It totally deserves to win.
It's about an undercover organisation for children. The plot
was really good and the characters were believable. I'd
recommend it to anyone who loved the Alex Rider series.

Fiona from Year 10, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:

I really enjoyed this book. It switches between 100 day basic
training to a mission. James Adams has grown up (just a little)
and has now got a girlfriend. When one one of the Cherubs take
a turn for the worst, James is sucked into a blast from the
past. I really enjoyed the ending. It's a really good book I
definitely recommend reading it

This book was boring and dragged for ages before anything
happened. I liked the other CHERUB books but this one was
rubbish.

this book is another brilliant cherub book that i was looking
farword to reading
this could easily be happening in real life right under our
noses but the book asures us it isnt but that is what i like
about it the realisticness.

Jack from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:

Mad Dogs is more of a teenage read than an easy read. The story
is quite complicated but absolutely brilliant once you get into
it. It is about two gangs who start a mad war. The two gangs
are called the Slasher Boys and the Mad Dogs. The Slasher Boys
are the bigger gang but they aren't as clever as the Mad Dogs.
When these two gangs collide, there needs to be someone to stop
the war, these someones are the Cherub. The Cherub are a branch
of British Intelligence whose agents are aged between 10 to 17
years. To train to be a Cherub, you have to go through a 100
day trial without getting injured. The trial is very
challenging and only the best trainees pass. That is what the
book is about really, the Cherub go into a really dangerous
mission to stop two very dangerous gangs. The question is, will
they do it? I can't tell you any more or I would be giving away
the whole story! Just read the book to find out. I would say
this book is not suitable for younger readers because it has a
lot of swearing in it and some of the contents are simply not
for children, although I think this book is the dark horse of
the competition. I would rate this book a 9/10 but the question
is, is this book a DBA winner. We will have to see.

Callum from Year 7, Ridgewood School:

This book is about a boy called James. He is part of the
gang called Cherub which is fighting to get rid of crooks and
gangs off our streets. James has to go under cover and join the
worst gang mad dogs just to get some info on what there up to.
I liked the bit where he robs an airport and it shows what
some people would do just to get there hands on money.
My favorite charector was James because he is full of
suprises.
I would recommend this book because It is a jammed packed
adventure book and you won’t want to book the book down at
all.

Matthew F from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:

I liked bits of this but other bits I didn't enjoy. The bits I
didn't like were the parts where gangsters died because of
street wars. The bit I did like was the part where they
started talking to each.

Jamie from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:

Britain is controlled by gangs: Runts, Slasher Boys and Cherub.

Cherub are a gang of secret agents, they spy on criminals.
They are aged between 10-16.
I enjoyed it because it is punchy and exciting the characters
are good too.
I would recommend 'Cherub' books to you.
