This book is an amazing story if you are the type of person who
likes magic and goddesses I would recommend it but it drags on.

Vicki from Year 9, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:

This book was seriously cool. I loved it, it was full of drama
and intensity. When Kumari gets put in the world beyond she is
scared and vulnerable because she doesn't know much about it.
Here she meets people she grows to love while trying to find
out why her Mother was killed. She misses her Father and pines
for her Mother terribly and wishes she could see them again.
The drama of the story pulls you in and makes this story very
exciting and a wonderful read. My favourite character was the
foster parent of Kumari when she came to the world beyond. Her
foster mum is called Ma and Kumari gets on with her very well.
Ma is kind and sensitive and cares for Kumari very deeply. Will
Kumari have to stay there? Will she ever like it? All the
answers to these strange questions come out in the end. This
story just keeps pullinng you in to read more and you can't
wait to read the next bit.

This book was very descriptive and the beginning pages made you
want to find out what was happening. If you like magical
fantasy this book is definitely for you.

Jemimah from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:

This book is about a trainee goddess called Kumari. She lives
in a secret valley kingdom which can not be found on any map.
She can't perform any powers and the only one she can do is
Power NO.8. Her only friend is a baby vulture called Badmash.
Somebody in the Palace killed her Mamma (her mum) so she goes
to the Holy Moutain to try and summon her Mamma back from the
dead to find out the truth but then she finds herself in New
York with some kidnappers after her.

This book is very interesting and I can't wait for the next
one.

Kirsty from Year 7, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:

I really liked this book even though I dont really like girly
books I thought it was realy good. It was about a girl called
Kumari who lived on her own without any friends and she goes to
a city with other people and finds out how they live. I gave it
9/10

Molly from Year 7, Ridgewood School:

I think Kumari: Goddess of Gotham is a very good book. I think
it shows how if you use your imagination you can go anywhere.
Ma is a very funny hairdresser and I think that Badmash seems
really cute. I would love a pet vulture like him.

I dont really think this book suits me. I reckon it is aimed at
girls for a reason. Although it is for girls it has it's good
points. I think boys will not like this book as much as the
girls will.

Hannah from Year 6, Hatchell Wood Primary School:

This book is brilliant. It is a good book because it has lots
of describing words and it has loads of action, in the book
something is always happening so it keeps you gripped to the
book and I couldn't put it down. I would recommend this book
for girls from 9-14 year olds.
I would definitely read the next book when it comes out since
it is part of a set.

Emma from Year 6, Owston Primary School:

'Kumari The Goddess Of Gotham' is about a young girl called
Kumari who's mum has died. So Kumari gets really upset and runs
away. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone as I thought it
got quite boring.

Isobel from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:

Kumari is a goddess-in-training. Her mother is dead, and as she
(her mother) is a goddess she can be saved, but accidentally
falls into moden day New York.
This book is for people who love magic and morden day life.

I loved this book and think it should WIN!!!

Rhianne from Year 6, Mallard Primary School:

I didn't really like this book because it was a bit boring and
it didn't get into the story very quickly. I'd prefer a book
which was more exciting than this.

Daniel from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:

This book better be on the short list.

Megan from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:

This book is a kind of mystery book. Somebody killed Kumari's
mum and Kumari was trying to communicate with her ma but she
ends up in the world beyond (Earth). she meets some friends
called Chico, Hannah and Charley and they get on very well
together but her best friend is her pet vulture Badmash.

Heather from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:

The main character in this story is a goodess who is called
Kumari.
I liked the main character in this story because she was wild,
brave, bold and adventurous.
There were many different settings in this story which is
confusing and is hard to remember where you are in the sotry.
It was a boring story as it did not grasp me in and had a lot
of rubbish settings.
I did not like this story because it was boring and confusing.

Kumari: Goddess of Gotham is about a young girl who gets
kidnapped but manages to run away and falls off a wall. She is
training to be a Goddess, who lives in a secret valley. Kumari
thinks about her mother's death.
I like this book because it is interesting and exciting.

Marks out of 10: 9

Abby from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:

the main character is a young girl (Goddess) called Kumari and
her little pet vulture, Badmash. She dresses in Idian type
clothes. She has along black hair and is quite tanned. The
atmosphere is calm at the beginning, then it gets exciting.
My favourite part was when Kumari found a foster home in the
mortal world or the world beyond, because Kumari acted really
weird!
The plot is that Kumari is a Goddess and she is trying to find
out who killed her mother, but she stumbles into the mortal
world, when she trys to say she is a Goddess, no-one believes
her and she tries to get home.
I would recommend this book to girls who like mystery and
fantasy.

Natasha from Year 9, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:

I though Kumari was a great book in the end. I really loved
the part where she entered New York because she was talking to
a t.v. She thought the t.v. had little people in it. I would
recomend this to people who love to read fiction stories and
love reading about gods. I would say this book was a great
story. it starts off with her mum dying and there is one way
she can save her but when she is saving her, she ends up in New
York. I didn't like it at the start because I couldn't get in
to it, but I loved it in the end so thats why I gave it an 8.

Ryan from Year 5, Owston Primary School:

This book is not that brilliant but it is alright. Kumari must
be really beautiful to be a goddess of gothem. I would really
recomend this book to girls mostly it's just one of them books.

Kumari is a great book it has mistery and comedy. This book is
very good but sometimes it draggs on. The book is about a
trainee goddess whos mum has died. So Kumari gets really upset
and runs away and ends up in new york. Kumari does not know
what a few 21st century prducts are and she finds them quite
interesting :) I would recommend this book to girls between
9-15 over all the book was great :)

Jessica from Year 7, Hayfield School:

Kumari is a BRILLIANT book. It has a mixed genre which is quite
interesting; this includes mystery, fantasy, adventure, action
and humour. It is a story about Kumari- a goddess in training,
whose ‘Mamma’ has been killed. When she tries to summon her
from the dead, she somehow ends up in the world beyond, where
everything is different….

I love this book so much especially parts with my favourite
character Badmash (Kumari’s pet bird.)I recommend this to
everyone and anyone, and boys, don’t be put off by the front
cover.

I think that Kumari is a good book because it has a lot of
description and it tells you a lot of information on her mum
and where she wants to take her that's why I think it's a good
book.

Maleeha from Year 8, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:

This book is really wonderful. I enjoyed the whole story. It
is part of how this girl kumari who is a goddess believes to
find her dead mum ,but fails and is taken to New York where
everything is a puzzle to her. Considering she has lived all
her life as a goddess she learns how to be a human girl but she
only has a year to live a life in human world. She tries
telling people that she is a goddess, only fails and gives up.

This book is very intriging and is an adventure kind.

This book is BRILL!! It is about a young girl named Kumari
and she goes into like real life and she doesnt know what a tv
is and she starts talking to it saying to take her back to her
own home and she doesn't know what a car is and she doesn't
know many many things in the new world.
I would recamend this book to both boys and girls.
IT IS FANTABBYTASTIC.
