Mitchell from Year 8, Rossington All Saints School:
I thought this book is a slow and relaxed book but keeps you
intersted. It wasn't my kind of book but I couldn't put it
down.
Hannahmay from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:
My opinion on the book was quite good but it wasn't my type of
book. It has good use of language and punctuation. If you like
adventures then this is the book for you. I would recommend
this book for ages 9+.
Ethan from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
I didn't really enjoy this book as i couldn't really get into a
rythem.I am giving this book 4 out of 10.
Chloe from Year 6, Hatfield Manor Junior School:
I thought Nation was a great book with some very funny parts
but others very serious. My favorite character was Mau because
he said some very thoughtful things and was very helpful to
other people on th island.
The story line of Nation was brilliant. First Mau traveled from
Boy's island to Nation to become a man but while thats
happening a wave strikes. Meanwhile Daphane joins the sweet
judy(a ship)and are suddenly shipwrecked and she is the only
survivor. As more people come to Nation Mau and Daphane had to
look after them but will they cope...
Read and find out about this great story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anna-Marie from Year 6, Rossington All Saints School:
I read nation by Terry Pratchett and i found it quite boring
and i have read half of it and decided not to carry on reading.
I disliked this book because it has a very wweird way of
setting it out and is very hard to understand. The introduction
is completely different to the plot of the story and dosen't
introduce the main characters until halfway. I would recommend
this book to people who like funny dialouge and high peaks of
imagi'nation' but not for peoplwe who like real life realted
troubles and fantasys.
Ryan Fox from Year 7, Hall Cross School:
A great book.Starts of a little disorientating and confusing,
like all Terry Pratchett books, this stops after about about a
paragraph or 2 and you ask yourself how it was ever
confusing. This book combines humour and fantasy, and great
description. My favourite charachters being the grandfather
birds, both humerous yet proud and lazy.I would recommend this
to older children and adults as younger people may remain
disoriantated and confused all the way.
DANIEL from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
A very good book, not the best but still good. i like the bit
where the boy milks a pig. its pretty horrid!
Aaron from Year 9, Hall Cross School:
I was drawn to this book from the start. It goes into alot lot
of detail at the start but but it did kick in at the second
chapter. I really struggled with this book and I gave in at the
second chapter. The best thing about this book was the cover.
Holly from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:
this book had cliff hangers in it which i liked. i have to say
this book is a complete page turner. Amazing book. What let me
down though was it seemed to end really quickly. other than
that a good book.
Autumn from Year 6, Hexthorpe Primary School:
This is a really good book to read. A lot of people die so this
is sometimes quite a scary book. My favourite part of the book
is when Mau, Daphne and Ataba go on an adventure although Ataba
(something happens to). I think Mau is very brave and he is
good at organizing a team. This is one of Terry Pratchettes
best books.
charly from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
a fantastic fantcey world
Adam Hilton from Year 6, Edenthorpe Hall Primary School:
I thought this book has a good ending where you thought it was
over but the book tells you last thing. I thought that it
really deserves to get on the sortlist! Nothing could make me
put it down without a good reason
Ross from Year 5, Owston Primary School:
A slow book, but still very good.
Toni from Year 9, Armthorpe School:
Nation is in my top 3, so far, best books on the list it
reminded me of my favourite book 'the knife of never letting
go' and 'the ask and the answer' both from the walking chaos
trilogy still waiting for the last one :'-(.
However I was really disappointed at the ending so I have to
give it a 8 but other than that its really a great book and
would definitely recommend it to any one ;-)
Chloe from Year 6, Hatfield Manor Junior School:
I didn't like Nation cos its a bit boyish and the boy who's on
the sort of desert island he doesn't do enough acting instea
dof talking. So me personally I would not recomend it.
Thomas from Year 8, Ridgewood School:
I think that this book is interesting at the beginning but the
gets very boring at the end and it started to drag on and on!!
Jade from Year 6, Hatfield Manor Junior School:
This book isn't the best book in the world but it can sure
entertain you. If you like adventurous books read this one but
I'm not a big fan! I hated Imo but iIloved Mau because he
sounds cute and attractive!
Shannon from Year 8, Danum School Technology College:
Nation was a good book but it was hard to get in to the story.
The first third of the book was definitely not un putdownable
but the second two thirds of the book were quite exciting. It
was a good book overall with some exciting parts.
Jake from Year 9, Danum School Technology College:
I absolutely loved this book. I thought it was brilliant and I
love all his work. I thought it was a tiny bit slow at the
beginning but it helps the story. This book is not part of the
discworld novels and despite that he still has created a
fantastic book. The story was easy to understand and I did not
want to put the book down until I had completely finished it.
Zack from Year 8, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:
This book is brilliant, the way Terry Pratchet has written this
book is fantastic! I really enjoyed it, mostly because of the
storyline. There is also a few gory parts which I'm all for!
The way he makes the characters differ from each other is just
genius! The only thing I didn't like about this book is that
you have to read more pages than I would of liked to actually
get into it.But I still really enjoyed this book, hence the
8/10.
jack from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
This book should have made the shortlist! I think it's a
brilliant book that you can't put down!
Terry pratchet latest succsess!
Megan from Year 9, Armthorpe School:
i was so engrossed in this book i missed all of my favourite tv
programme
i would definitely recommed it to any it is an amazing book
xx
Holly from Year 6, Tranmoor Primary School:
Nation was ok. I was keen on the beginning but there was some
bad language. I was quite keen on this book but I thought some
parts were hard to understand.
Bradley from Year 6, Sunnyfields Primary School:
I liked this book, i was interesting, yet I never got the story
line, it was always switching from one place to another, one
chapter, the people are singing to beer, the next, a man is
trying to get into the so-called womans place. I gave this book
a 6 because it was a very good peice of lituriture, but it was
hard to understand.
