Hannah from Year 11, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College:

This book is set it Venice. A boy gets a letter telling him
that his dad is missing and may even be dead. He sets out to
meet the sender of the letter and try to find his dad. However,
the circumstances in which his dad disappeared are unknown so
he and the sender of the letter are thrown into a dark and
dangerous world they have little knowledge of.
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was well written.
Iwould reccommend this book but not for younger readers as some
of it is graphically violent.

Sophie from Year 10, Ridgewood School:

I think this is a good book, the author is very talented.. but
it is not my kind of book. I got bored in parts, but liked how
the book made me think. I also liked the detail of the setting,
it was very imaginative.

The kiss of death is full of rumour and suspence!
It is awsome and full of blood and adventure. It is a thrilling
story about a young boy and a tough girl who are on an
adventure to find the boys father. It is set in venice which is
a place in Italy. It is suitable for 11to30 year olds it is also
like a big cake making you read more.
This is the first book in the series that i have read and i
have not been able to put it down.It is not girly or boyish it
is for both.It is loveable and also grusome with alot of info
in.It is boring at first but it hasgottibetter with every page
and that is why it is a ten out of ten!

Abigail from Year 6, Hatchell Wood Primary School:

I am only half way through this book, and are already enjoying
it. When I first picked up the book, I didn't think it would be
right for me. I have now changed my mind, I am looking forward
to finishing this book. Kiss of Death has good setting
description for Venice and has reached my inner person -
especially in Chapter 2. Chapter 2 especially reached my inner
person when Marco left his mum, with all his brothers and
sisters. :( :(

Mitchell from Year 8, Rossington All Saints School:

It wasn't my kind of book, but I've read other books before
that weren't and enjoyed them. I found this book boring because
I think it takes just more than half the book to get
interesting, which is to long.

Charlotte from Year 7, Ridgewood School:

This book is a good book but it did not appeal to me but I
would suggest it to others because the plot is interesting and
effectively written but I just disliked how slow the story
builds up and it becomes fairly uninteresting in certains times
which frustrates me very much.Though I dislike it many of my
friends LOVED it.

Holly from Year 7, Ridgewood School:

This book did not appeal to me as it was too gruesome and dark.
It's not the type of book I would normally read but I decided
to give it a go because I visited Venice last year and thought
it might be interesting. I'm sure some people will enjoy this
book but it just wasn't my cup of tea !!!!

Holly from Year 6, Saltersgate Primary School:

Kiss of death is a good book which is about a young boy called
marco who goes on a quest to find his father. He meets friends
of his dad's on the way and enjoys the journey with them. Marco
meets a girl called sorrel who is his fathers friends daughter.
My favourite character was Sorrel because she shows what it is
like when your parents do not look after you and she always
fights for what she believes in. Also she is described like she
looks scary but she actually is very loving. I dis liked this
book because it got boring at times and it got grusome at times
so i got bored. I would recommend this book because it is
grusome and alot of people like grusome. i would recommend this
book to age 12 and over because it was a bit scary for younger
pupils.

Lottie from Year 6, Adwick Park Junior School:

I think this book, is average, it didn't really speak to me,
but I like the beginning with the letter. I would recommend it
to people who like a scare.

did not like this book

Sarah from Year 6, Hatchell Wood Primary School:

Kiss of Death was a quite good book, it took a while for things
to happen though. When the action started it was packed with
suspence. The thing I didn't like about the book was the fact
when the action did happen it wasn't long until it got boring
again.
The book was all about a boy called Marco, and a girl named
Sorrel. One of their dads has gone mad and the other missing.
Marco and Sorrel are scared that one of their dads could die
and the other already could be dead. All the way through the
story they search for Marco's Father who Sorrel thinks is the
only person who can save her Father. Halfway through a man
comes, called Peter. Peter is unbelievably old and wants to
help, because he thinks wherever Marco's Father is The Shadow
Queen is there. Peter is desperate to kill her as she has
killed most of Peters family. The Shadow Queen has alot of
power over people and they soon find out she has it over
Marco's and Sorrel's dads too. The Queen of the shadows has
lived much longer than Peter but still looks young and
beautiful and she thinks she is too. When she looks in a mirror
she is horrified to see who she really is.

If you have just started this book and find it boring keep
going because the action does come. I rated this book as a 8\1o
because it takes a very long time for there to be action.

Death comes in many ways but in Venice death comes by water!

Rebecca from Year 6, Hatfield Manor Junior School:

This book was quite boring. It didn't have much interesting
vocabulary in but if it had some interesting vocab in then it
might be better. I would advise some people to read it.

I thought it was brilliant i would recomned it to teenages but
i would not recomned it to younger years.

Amelia from Year 7, Ridgewood School:

I didn't like this book very much but I wouldn't say that I
hated it. I liked the character Marco because at the start of
the book he said that he was going to find his father and
wouldn't give up.

holly from Year 6, Tranmoor Primary School:

This book was good, but a bit scary. I think it is suitable for
ages 10+ because of the letter at the beginning.

The kiss of death

The main characters in the book are Marko and Sorrel.

Marko is on a quest to find his father and he meets this girl
called Sorrel on the way. Sorrel's dad has this illness which
makes you not able to sleep, and you get really tired until you
die, and she thinks that she's got it. So Marko tries to help
Sorrel and her dad, as well Sorrel tries to help Marko find his
dad.
And there is this women called the shadow queen, there is also
vampires in. I thought the book was very interesting and it. It
grabs your attention and you cant put the book down.
