Brandon from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I didn't like this book beacuse I found it hard to catch on to
it. I kept picking it up and putting it down and found it hard
to just keep reading it.

My favourite character was Rex because I felt sorry for him at
the start because his step mother kept changing things. This is
a new author for me and I don't know if I would like to read
another of his books.

Clayton from Year 10, Ridgewood School:

I hated this book!
The storyline was boring and it had such a good setting that I
fell asleep just thinking about going on. Not one of Higgins'
best books, the story could have been so much better with the
setting and characters he has created. Things began strange in
the prolougue and within the first or second chapter, still
nothing had been resolved or even thought of resolving. If
anything more drousiness happened. Not recommended by me for a
long shot.

Lois from Year 6, Hayfield Lane Primary School:

This book was not as scary as i thought it would be i will not
read this book again as i thought it was not good.I would say
people around the age of 7 would enjoy this book.

Abby from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

The Lunatics Curse is about a very mysterious lunatic asylum,
called Droprock Asylum. The main character is Rex whose Dad,
Ambrose, turned insane and got sent to the Droprock Asylum, but
Rex thinks it was caused by his stepmother, Acantha. I think
the genre of this book would be mystery and this book is also
very gory. The opening doesn't give any of the story away,
which can be interpreted as a bad thing or a good thing, I
think it is a good thing though, as it draws the attention of
the reader in. I think that Rex is an amazing character who has
a very horrible past. I think that the book would appeal to
boys more than girls, although some girls will like it,
including me! This book has an amazing storyline and it has
very interesting characters too (most of which are evil.) The
Lunatics Curse is one of the best books I have read in a while,
I loved it.

Dylan from Year 6, Conisbrough Morley Place Junior School:

The Lunatic's Curse was not very good, I only liked some parts
like the part when he escaped that was the best part but the
rest was boring that is why I gave it a 4 out of 10

Jamie from Year 6, Hayfield Lane Primary School:

I give this book a 7 because the author has made it sound
better than it acually is.But on the positive side the people
do like a scary and murder story.
So i would recomend it to 8-12 years of age. And i think it
should have got through to the short list!

from Year 5, Estfeld Primary:

This book was very scary, I think it is suitable for 8 and
over. I don't have a favourite part, the whole book was
exciting.

madonna from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

i thought it was good but at the same time boring and there
wasnt really and adventure in it that really dissapointed me to
be honset and i like the ending
