this story was not something i would read again. the characters
were to drematic and the open ing scene didnt make sence. i
think if the aurthor had described it more i would have read
on.

Callum from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This was an amazing book full of suprises, blood guts and gore.
The writer makes you want to keep on reading and wanting to
know more. He gets you to like a character so that you are
sad if they die. I was sad to finish, although there is a lot
of violence and swearing. 11/10

This book was amazing and one of the best i have read so far,
It is about an illness outbreak getting anybody over the age of
14 and some kids have to survive on there own, The book is
about friendship and loyalty. It has lots of gore and blood in
it and you will probley get attached to one or more of the
characters and feel for them.

Beth from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This book was a really good read for me. It is all about an
illness outbreak striking people over the age of 14. Some kids
decide they need to stay alive in this outbreak and try to take
on as many ill-struck people as possible, using diffirent
weapons like guns, knives, bats, swords and many more. They
decide to leave the area they are in and split up and head
different ways untill a strange man called Greg tells them he
is immune and he can help them. But can you really trust him?
Its a really good book and keeps you on the edge of your seat
and I'd reccomend it to anybody who likes blood, guts and
horror.

The Dead is about sickos/ strangers/ mothers and fathers taking
over, attacking and eating children, they turn into sickos if
they are over 14 and get the disease. The main characters are
Ed, Bam and Jack. It is set in London and starts at a school
when some teachers are attacking. This story is a sort of
horror/adventure. I think the readers attention is caught at
the beginning because it starts about a weird video and
youtube… but you don’t expect that, as the title is the
DEAD and the front cover is a skull. In the book Ed, Bam, Jack
and some others are fighting sickos upon sickos for survival
but lots of people die on the way, to a safe place. They do
find a safe place finally, but in the end they lose that too.
The book is about survival basically. The only thing I found
disappointing is the disgusting bits about pus and blood! Only
kidding! I think that some girls will like it but boys will
like it more than girls.

I loved this book because i usally get scared when i watch a
movie about zombies but this just didnt even scare me. My
faverouite characters were jack ed brooke and aleshia. i was
sad when jack died because he was my faverouite i was glad that
ed and brooke survied (not so sure brooke did) but i was so
determined to get to the end that i forgot how aleshia died so
i had to flip back to the chapter were she did

Rebecca from Year 6, St Albans Catholic Primary School:

Warning: This book is not for the faint-hearted.
It is really gory and has lots of swears in it. It gave me so
many nightmares, that I haven't had a proper sleep in 4 days!
And my eyes were literally glued to the pages.

I loved it when Frederique turned into a sicko and bit Froggie.

You will want to read this if you love horror stories!

Abby S from Year 9, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This book is the second book in the series. One day in
England everyone over fourteen gets a horrible disease that
turns them into crazy, boil-covered zombies that eat the
children! In this book Ed, Jack and their group of school
friends are trying to escape their zombie filled school and get
to a safe place they can live, but everywhere they go the
disease ridden adults are there. The boys soon learn that all
adults are dangerous enemies, so imagine their surprise when an
adult butcher, Greg, saves them and claims he is immune to the
disease. Will Ed, Jack and their friends survive? Or will they
just be eaten or killed, like so many of the other children.
I thought this book was awesome, it was really gory and
disgusting in some parts but it really helps you picture the
diseased adults in your head. The story is great and it makes
you want to just keep reading.
This book is clearly aimed more at boys than girls but I
enjoyed it and I’m sure loads of other girls will have as
well.
Brimming with gory greatness!

This is a bone chilling and exiting book for all older
children. This thriller is about adults or strangers... they're
Zombies! With boils on their face and food on there mind. The
chidren fight to survive in this blood filled book. Food and
time run out... is this the end ?
