I like this book because I think its really good, especially
when Pinky's foster parents get killed by the people dressed up
to be indians so they can get Pinky's medicene bag. I also
think its quite sad because his foster parents get killed on
his birthday.

Keavey from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

His name is P.K. Pinkerton,he said before this day is over he
will be dead. He was born in Hard Luck, September 26,1850 and
he died in Virginia City, September 28 1862. He can speak
American & Lacota and also he can speak Chinese & Spanish. It
all started on 26 September. He came home and walked into the
one room cabin to the smell of scadled milk and the sight of
things thrown everywhere. It was Pinky's 12th birthday. Even
at night the streets of virginia are busy. The blood was
leaping in his veins. He scrambled up the dresser as fast as a
squirrels tail on fire. He saw white men dressed up as
indians. They had war paint on their faces and fluffy feathers
in there greasy hair. He said who ever finds his body will
get to know the unhappy events. He was up and running as fast
as a jack rabbit, he got tackled he went down hard. Dirt
camebursting out of his lungs and his mouth was full of dirt. I
think other people should read this book.

Brooke from Year 6, Conisbrough Morley Place Junior School:

I love this book if it was a TV show it should of won an Oscar
but I still don't know weather Pinky a boy or a girl. If
another one comes out then I'd batter the door at W. H. Smith
just to get it.

Pinkey is a 12 year old boy whose Mum and Pa have been killed
by men who are pretending to been indians. As they came back
he hid and they walk around the cabin and looking at the small
things around, they realise they had a son and are trying to
find and kill him. The book is a good book it is set in the
past. I found disapointing the middle of the book. You should
read this book its a great book.

This book is a mystery and sad. When he was on the way home and
some people scalped their parents. His father was completely
dead and his mother is dying. She said the attackers want
pinky's(a little boy) medicne. I feel sorry for him. He has to
run away

So far i love the book I would definetly reccomend this to all
my friends. It is definitely a story that gives you a chill
down your spine and it can some times be a cliff hanger. It is
definetly a story that reels you in just by the introduction,
just by saying ''My name is PK Pinkaton and before this day is
over i will be dead''it made me want to read on and find out
what actully happens.

This is my favrourite book so far its adventurey and is action
packed and my favrourite character is the mother because of her
last words of wisdom, she said not to get help for her but to

The Case of the Deadly Desperado's is a tear jerking story
about a boy (or is he) who loses both of his biological parents
(or does he) and then both of his adoptive parents and then
gets hunted down by three Desperados. The main character is P.K
Pinkerton aka.Glares from a Bush, who is a very unfortunate
boy. The story is set in the West, 1862. The opening of the
story caught my attention because it intrigued me. In the story
P.K is getting chased down by Whittlin' Walt and his gang and
he ends up in Virginia City, where he meets lots of new
friends, including a Soiled Dove, a Celestial and Mark Twain
(at that time known as Sam Clemens.) He also has to disguise
himself as a girl, Celestial and the list goes on... I loved
this book and I didn't find any of it disappointing. I would
recommend this book to anyone who loves a historical or
exciting chase story. It is the best book I've read during

kelsey from Year 9, Danum Academy:

This book is really good, because it tells it from a teenager
point of view and while i was reading it, the emotions i felt
were anger, pitty and sadness. I didn't exactly like that
sometimes the boy was talking about something, and he didn't
tell you what it was.
Overall a very good book, with descriptions of the characters
and a very good plot for the story.

I would read it again and again

into her secret hiding place to get her medical bag and that
she would find her destiny. then pinky sets of of on an
adventure. the rest is for you to find out. hope you enjoy.

Victoria from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

So, twelve year old Pinky is the narrator and hero of this
story. The novel is told in retrospect in Pinky’s own words
as he recounts the experiences which lead him to being trapped
down a silver mine. The novel is set in and around Virginia
City. The year is 1862. The story really begins on Pinky’s
birthday. He comes from school to find that his foster ma and
pa have been scalped by a dastardly villain, the outlaw
Whittlin Walt. P.K. has something that the famous outlaw wants
and he will stop at nothing to get his hands on it. There are
several threads of mystery running through the novel: the true
identity of Pinky. I Would Give This Book 5 Stars!!!

Jamie from Year 6, Hayfield Lane Primary School:

This is a good book because it grabs your attention from the
start by saying things like blood streaming from their hands or
gave out a desperate cry.
Despite it sounding a bit gorry, i personally think it should
have got through to the short list.
And i would recomend it to anyone who asks if it is good.
Because it is!!!!!

I think that the case of the deadly deesperados is the best
book. The best bit is when Pinky goes with belle and
she........ well im not going to spoil it for you am?
The most worst bit was thinking 'does he live or does he dies'
well you know im not going to tell you that either.

Rebecca from Year 6, Montagu Academy:

I have really enjoyed The Case Of The Deadly Desperados. It
hasn't been my best book so far but it was good. I thought it
was sad when P.K Pinkerton came home from school to see his
foster parents Dead. His foster mother wasn't dead but she was
going to die soon, Although his foster father was dead. Some
parts of the book i didn't understand. It was like he wrote it
in a diary or a letter. I have never read a Western type of
story, this was my first. I thought it was interesting but also
very sad.

I would recomend this book to people that like Western
mysterys. Hope you enjoy it :)

Chloe Marie from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I think this book is OK but to improve the book there needs to
be moref pictures in it so you also now what it is talking
about. On the other hand I am going to tell you about the first
on the page the story starts with when the day is over I will
be dead.
I am trapped down the deepest shaft of a comstock silver mine
with three desperados closing in on me.
Until they find me,I have my pencil & these ledge sheets and a
couple of candles.
if i write small & fast, i might be able to write an account of
how i came to be here. Then whoever finds my body will know the
unhappy events that led to my demise.
that is most of the first page and you will have to find out
what happens in the end it might be
interesting,boring,shocking,exciting or surprising
So I hope you will read this book to find out what happens in
the end.

Wow! This book is soooooo refreshing! If you'd have told me to
sit under a Fanta Fountain and then fly with the birds whilst
reading this, I'd have been brainwashed with refreshment!!!!!
It's not my type of genre but I'd certainly buy it at
Waterstones, WHSmith or any other book shop!

The best charectar has to be the hero AND the villian for me! I
also like Poker Face Jace!!! I like P.K Pinkerton a.k.a Pinky
because he has a cool nickname, is very smart and has plans for
his future.

All in all , this was a good book!
