Katie from Year 8, Ridgewood School:

Billionare boy is about a boy called Joe Spud. He is the
richest boy in the world, as his father is the owner of Bum
fresh (a multi-billion or squillion pound industry). Joe has
not always been this rich. It started when his Dad came up with
the bright idea of having nice, smelly toilet paper. This then
expandes into a huge buisness. Joe has WHATEVER he wants: £2
million for his birthday, a crocodile, his own f1 racing track,
a theme park in his back garden and a slide leading to an
olympic sized swimming pool. But then Joe wants something new.
Something money can't buy. A friend. So he moves school and
makes a friend. He is a normal boy, living with his Mum. They
makes friends when Joe tries to pay him £50 to come last in a
race. Then the Grubbs attack. Soon thier is money flying
straight into thier pocket to stop the Grubbs from bulling Joe
and his friends.
Read on tho find out more about Joes life, friendship,
bulling and complete disaster that has only just begun...
Overall I gave this book 8 as it was fun, exiting but it
needed more detail for it to for my age group but I would
reccomend it for 7-10 year olds.
Surely friendship can't be bought? Or can it...

Alisha from Year 9, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I really enjoyed reading Billionaire Boy. The book was about a
boy named Joe Spud who had everything in this entire world but
the one thing he didnt have was a friend. He went to a private
school and got bullied so he asked his dad if he could go into
a public school, where he found a friend who liked him for what
he was. The other boy was getting bullied so Joe paid the 2
bullies to be nice to him but his friend found out and he fell
out withJjoe. Then this girl called Lauren come to the school
and she got recognised by all the pupils from a pot noodle
advert on the tele. Joes dad paid Lauren to be Joe's friend and
Joe finds out. The book is really funny because of the way
David described Joe's dads job.
I would recommend this book to teenages because there were
meant to be swearing words in there and they are blanked out.

Billionaire boy is an amazing story. It is about a boy who has
more money than he needs. Although his father bought him
everthing he wanted, he was missing one thing. A friend. Will
he finally find a friend? Will money turn out to be perfect in
every way or will it cause more problems than ever.?
It was quite funny and I loved the way the author
writes his books. You really care and understand how the
characters feel. After reading Billionaire Boy I would love to
read some more books by David Walliams.

Billionaire boy is a fantastic book about a boy named spud who
has apsolutely everything he could ever want, apart from one
thing- a friend. To spud a friend is the one thing he really
wants but his dad does not understand. Spud's dad eats, sleeps
and breathes money and does not realise spud is slowly drifting
away from him. Will he realise his son is more important than
money or is it to late? I enjoyed this book so much so that i
didn't put it down and read it in one night! A must read for
people who love funny stories. 10/10 definately!

This book is fantastic. 10/10 definately!! Spud has everything
he could ever want apart from 1 thing a friend. Only money does
not buy friendship only trouble. Will Spud find what he has
always wanted and will Spud's dad realise that blood is thicker
than money?? Read Billionaire boy to find out! You will love
it!

This book is about a young boy called Joe Spud and this boy has
everything a child could hope for. Well everything but one... a
friend! That is one thing that money can't buy. He meets two
friends but with Joe where money is involved nothing turns out
as good as he plans.

Joe Spud is the richest boy in the world. He has everything
from an F1 race track to a pet crocodile. Lots of people would
think Joe's life couldn't be better. But he is missing one
thing. One thing that a two million pound birthday present
can't buy. One thing that no amount of money can buy. Joe Spud
wants a friend. So he moves school and finds a boy called Bob.
But then Joe makes the mistake of thinking money can buy
friends. Read this book to discover the hilarious life Joe
leads, and the awful mistakes he makes. I recommend this to
anyone who likes a laugh in a good book.

This book is about a boy named Joe Spud. Joe Spud is amazingly
rich and has every thing you could ever ask for, but Joe Spud
one day went up to his dad and asked for a a friend. His dad
tells him to go out and find a friend because you can not buy
one. Joe asked his dad to go to school but when he does
everyone bullies him and everything goes wrong for him. I

I like this book beccause there's a boy's father who's a
billionaire. The boy gets whatever he wants like the latest
game and a the most expensive toy but he what he really wants
is a friend. You can't buy friends, you earn them like I do. He
is kind of spoilt because he never share with anyone. It's like
he's greedy but with objects. If I was him, I would share with
anyone even though he does't have any friends.I feel sorry for
him because he's just playing with his things instead of having
fun with other things. When his father got fed up of the boy
asking for something else, he took away his things when he was
at school. Eventually, when the boy came home, he ran upstairs
with a glum face-as usual. He ran to his dad and asked him
where all his stuff went. He said that it would be a surprise
when he see them. He didn't understand what he meant. So he sat
in the back seat waiting anxiously and waited. When they
arrived they went into the hospital. Oh no I forgot the rest. I
love it

I absolutely LOVE this book!!!!!
Its about a spoilt kid named Joe Spud who has everything in the
world from an alligator to 500 pairs of Nike trainers but the
only thing he really wants is a friend. He decides to attend
normal school and meets a small chubby kid named Bob and they
shortly become friends. After they have a fight over money,
they stop speaking and Joe meets a new girl called Lauren. He
develops a small crush on her but soon realises that she is
hiding two major secrets from him!
I gave this book 10 out of 10 for the moral behind the story
and the humour used in the book.

This book was fantastically funny!!! Very heart-warming and
touched me on the inside! I always thought that rich kids had
it easy since they have loads of money. It turns out I'm wrong
and that rich kids sometimes wish they're normal. I even
thought that when you turn rich you stay rich. This book has
proved me wrong again!!! I recently watched a film called
Richie Rich. That film soooo compares to this book! Joe Spud
a.k.a Billionaire Boy wants a friend. Richie Rich wants a
friend. Joe's dad pays a 'Sweet 'n' Sour Pot Noodle' advert
girl to be Joe's friend. Richie's butler pays some local kids
to be his friend. Joe has a rollercoaster. Richie has a
rollercoaster. There's a twist in Richie's story though. One of
the kids who gets paid, a girl, isn't bothered about the
money, she thinks friendship counts more than anything!!! Thi
book and the film have such a sweet storyline to it. Watch the
film and read the book to find out more. You'll agree that both
of these should bring you tears, laughter, love and warmth all
the way through them!!!

This book is called Billionaire Boy and there is a spoilt kid
in this book called Joe. Joe went to a really posh school and
he drove to school in his Formula one racing car but he said to
his mum and dad he needed his car making a bit more bigger so
that he can fit in his car fine.
THE BILLIONAIRE BOY HAD THESE THINGS:
100 inch plasma widescreen flat-screen high definition tv in
every room in the house
500 pairs of nike trainers
a robot dog from Japan
build in swimming pool
crocodile
10 lane bowling alley
skateboard park
£100,000 a week pocket money
a rollercoaster
a real life shark in a tank
a waterslide
and this boy named Joe has a lot more things than just this.
Like I said Joe is a really spoilt kid. I really enjoyed
reading this BILLIONAIRE BOY book it is amazing. Anyone who
hasnt read this I think you want to read it because it is an
interesting book and it is funny. P.S I hope you like this

second day at school but he made a friend called Bob. With his
amount of money he gave some horrible bullies called the Grubbs
they were identical twins but one happnd to be a girl and the
other boy (you still couldn't tell which one was which). Near
the end of the book Joe runs away he lost his friend called Bob

rich kid named Joe Spud who has everything he wants including
two million pound for his birthday and hundreds of nike

can't buy... a friend.
Joe desperately wants a friend and in order to do so, he moves

his wealth. Joe thinks his problems are about to end but really
they are just beginning...

Joe Spud is a billionaire, thanks to his dad who made his
billions inventing a new type of toilet roll. He has everything
he could ever want: His own race car and grand prix race track,
two crocodiles and a shark (just to name a few!). The one thing
he doesn’t have is a friend and that is what he wants more
than anything. At the major expensive and insanely posh school
Joe goes to, Joe is bullied for becoming rich by selling loo
rolls. Joe decides to go to the local comprehensive, no-one
there knows Joe is a billionaire so he hopes he will make at
least one friend. Joe is quite a fat boy (because he can buy an
unlimited amount of chocolate and sweets with all his money)
and he meets a boy his size at the school, called Bob. Bob and
Joe become good friends but when problems arise and Joe tries
to use his endless amounts of money to solve them, things start
to fall apart.
This book is great! I read Mr Stink and loved it and I loved
this book too. It’s really funny (which isn’t surprising
since it’s written by David Walliams) and the story is really
lovely especially how it ends. I liked the random lists that
took up about three pages. It has a true moral- ‘Money
isn’t everything’… and ‘never trust a dinner lady’.
I would recommend this book to children 8+ (teenagers too!).
Its fantastic!!

I think that the Billionaire Boy has a great opening because it
starts off with a rhetorical question. The story is about a boy
called Joe Spud who has everything he could possibly want
except for someone to share them with, as he has no friends. So
Joe decides to go to a normal school and lie so that he can
make a friend that isn't just after his money, but can he

The Billionaire Boy is about a young boy named Joe Spud, Joe
has everything a young boy his age could want except a friend.
This book takes you on a journey with Joe to find a friend who
can accept him for who he is, not his money.

The Billionaire Boy is a heart-warming and funny book. The
story line was intriguing and showed what it probably would be
like for a young boy in Joe's situation. It wasn't too
complicated and the way it was set out made it easier to read,
this meant that it didn't take long to get through either.

As soon as I picked up the book and started reading, I didn't
want to put it down. The choice of words and phrases were
gripping and kept the readers attention all the way through,
making the book both enjoyable and simple at the same time.
There wasn't a single part of the book that I didn't enjoy

book as a whole was suitable for any audience. I thoroughly
enjoyed the book and will definitely read it again.
