Owen from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This is a book about a goblin who has an adventure trying to
get into a keep. I liked it because it is very adventurous.
My favourite character is Henwhn because he had a fight with a
cheese monster.

I would recommend this book because when you read it it's like
you are on an adventure with them.

Jack from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

What I liked about the book Goblins is that it was a bit of an
adventure book. There was a little goblin named Scraper and he
was more clever then the other goblins,so he got to things
faster then the other goblins using thought and logic. There was
an old wise goblin that was always watching Scarper he was
clever just like Scarper is. My favorite character is Scarper
because he is smart,he uses logic and he is a bit strange. I
would recomend this book to people that like a laugh. I rate
this 8 out of 10 because it was a bit too over the top

Marie from Year 6, Barnburgh Primary School:

This book is the most confusing book I ever read. I can't read
a book thats to confusing because I can't get into it and it
will get boring after a while. The book lokks good because of
the colour and the illastrations but once you start reading it
is as confusing as ever. This book is probily the most
confusing book I ever read. I might read some more of Philip
reeve but this book is not for me I prefure a book I can get
into injoy and is not boaring or confusing. This book is not
for me but if any body else thinks they will like this book I
am not stoping you from reading it.

Rowan from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I thought this book was great i would defenteliy recommend it
but not to a reader who likes a fast book. The storyline is
great and realy keeps you going but it isn't fast telling.

I would give this book a 8 out of 10 for how well written and a
9 out of 10 for its hilarious storyline.

Summary
Goblins tells the story of Skarper, he is more intelligent than
the othe goblins living at Cloverstone Keep. Whilst other
gobins enjoy a simple life of fighting, looting and eating,
Skarper is also cunning, intelligent and can read. Skarper
needs all of his intelligence and cunning in an adventure which
includes lots of other fantasy creatures, fighting, running,
getting caught and escaping trying to save his world.

Favourite Character
I think Skarper is adventurous, hysterical and helpful. He is
intelligent and has a unique personality.

Recommendation
I have only scored this book 5 out of 10 because I did not get
interested in it even though it is really funny. Goblins are
just not my thing. I think it is more suited to people who like
their fantasy a bit stranger than I do.

Kayley-May from Year 7, Danum Academy:

The book Goblins got me interested by its front cover and the
first page I started reading then that’s when I got really
stuck in. My eyes couldn’t leave the page until the fourth
chapter. One because the chapters name was unhappy landings and
all the others were silly and funny, secondly it had no flare.
All the characters were goblins just so boring. The setting was
in cloven-stone by a forest and a city.
I did not read all the book because it got more boring, but I
would defiantly read another book written by him.

This book was rubbish i couldn't get into it.The introduction
is a bit long so I couldn't finish it.Also it is about when he
was a baby. I couldn't concentrate because it was boring so I
got distracted. That's why I gave it a two.

Louise from Year 8, Ash Hill Academy:

i like the book "goblins" because it is adventurous. I think
the best character is Skarper because he is different. he is
clever and cuning.

the colour is very createful and this made me want to read it!

Jennifer from Year 9, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

A funny book about an intelligent Goblin called Skarper and his
adventures. I would reccommend this for younger readers and
people who love adventures and fantasy stories. I liked this
book because it was mostly in the point of view of Skarper,
which gave a different viewpoint to what humans would give.

To be honest thought Goblins was going to be a really good
book but I guess not. At the begining I really liked this book
but as I read it got more and more boring.

amy from Year 6, Barnburgh Primary School:

I think it is a hard book to follow. I think it goes on about
nothing to do with the story. I am 3/4 of the way through the
book so I hope it gets better.I gave 6 out of ten because I
cant get into the book.I hope my perservering pays off.

Alfie from Year 6, Bessacarr Primary School:

I am writing about a book called goblins. The book sounded
good when I was told about it, but when I started reading it, I
couldn't get into it at all!

The book was very slow and not my sort of book. I am not being
mean, but this book was not for me and I didn't enjoy it
really.

The book is about a group of goblins who are blood thirsty and
love fighting. But one of these goblins is different, he is
clever and cunning! The story continues from here and tells
the goblins' adventures.

But I would not recomend this book as I didnt like the book
very much!
