Charlotte from Year 6, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I liked this book. Summer had a dream, she wanted to be a
dancer, a ballerina. She worked really hard, too hard at
times. She had lots of problems, her Mum abd Dad split up, her
Mum re-married. she split up with her boyfriend. Summer
gained a chance to audition for a scholarship with the up and
comong Roshelle Academy and worked too hard at times as she
didn't have fun with her friends in the summer holidays. She
was finding things hard and didn't know herself any more. She
stops eating and loses too much weight.

In the end she didn't get into the dance academy as she has
eating problems and needed help, which she gets from her family
and new boyfriend, Alfie.

Eva from Year 8, Hayfield School:

This book was amazing, it has adventure, thrills and comedy! I
loved the part when Summer had found out that she had been
invited to audition for the dance school, the worst part was
when she found out that her sister (Honey) was smoking.
I would recommend this book for anyone who likes dance or
anyone who loves to get stuck in a book!

(Summer"s dream) is amazing! This is the first Cathy Cassidy
book I have read. It"s an emotional book, but also very
interesting...I think you"ll love this book. Summer loves to
dance...she has a dream that she will become a famous
ballerina, when parents split up every-thing falls apart. Her
Dad has to take Summer to to her ballet audition......her Dad
arrives late so getting into ballet school is not possible for
Summer! When Miss Elise Summer"s dance teacher, tells her that
her friend Sylvie Rochelle wants Summer to audition for Royal
Ballet school life gets complicated.........Better let you read
the rest for your self"s!:)

Cathy Cassidy writes books like jacquline Wilson and I love her
books. This is the first of Cathy's books I've read and it
ticked all the boxes. My favorite part of the book was the end
when honey set fire to the stable

Summer has wanted to be a dancer all her life, when she was 9
her dad let her down, by going to her house picking her up, but
he got to her house late so she got nurvous for her first
audition. my faverout character is Summer. this is because she
is an intelligent girl and she's brave. at part of the book
Summer finds out that Skye was smoking. The auther kept me
interested by writing how the chracters feel in the book. If i
had the chance to ask Cathy Cassidy questions i would ask, How
many stories have you write? How many characters do you like to
have in each book? Does the auther have any relatives that
write and publish books?

Elliemay from Year 7, The Laurel Academy, Mexborough:

This is the frist story by Cathy Cassidy, i've ever read. And I
find it awsome, Its a book for lovers of girly stories.
Summer has a dream, to be a Ballerina. But her father promise
to take her to an auditon. But he arrives late. Everything
turns from bad to worse when her parents split up. Can Summer's
dream come true.

I would really recomend this book. To anyone who loves a good
story.

Josie from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:

A girl called Summer loved ballet and dreamed of going to the
Royal Ballet School, so she signed up to audition. Her parents
have split up so Summer has alot on her mind and doesn't get
in. She then faces all sorts of problems like her dad moving to
Australia, Anorexia, a fire and her sister running away before
she finally achieves her dream. I thought it was a really good
book that I didn't want to put down even though it was sad in
places.

hard for the poor girl. Anyway i wil let you read the rest of
the book yourself.... BUT MAKE SURE YOU READ IT , ITS AMAZING
!!!!

Chloe from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I think that this book is really good because it has a lot od
description in it like, 'Summer has wavy blonde hair, blue
eyes, talented, popular and a perfectionist.' The other reason
I like this book is because it is really interesting. One of
the man characters is Summer and Summer has always dreamt about
dancing at a place and where that place is at ballet school.
She always wants it so badly because she has always wanted to
dance throughout her entire life.

Charlotte from Year 8, Ash Hill Academy:

This book is hard to get into at first because you need to sit
in a quiet space and really concentrate, but after that it is
really good. It is about this girl who wants to be a famous
dancer but there is one problem stopping her, it is that her
mum and dad have split up and now her mum has remarried. This
problem is because her dad was going to take her to the dance
school where, she was going to audition but her dad didn’t
come back from his trip away.

This book is alright. I couldn’t really understand what was
going on. You would have to sit in a quiet space to understand
this. I read the blurb which gave me a hint that made me want
to read it. I really liked the illustration which gave me a
hint that what it was about. For me it really didn’t live up
to my expectations.

I would only recommend this book to strong and confident
readers.

anorexia.
The book was definitely great and I really enjoyed it.

Summers dream is a grat book. Cathy Cassidy obviously
understands what it can feel like for youg girls, especially
considering peer pressure. The way the romance part of the book
plays iout is very well written.

Marks out of 10: 7

ella from Year 7, Hayfield School:

This book was an interesting read, both sad, passionate, and
scary at the same time- there are so many things people can
relate to. In my opinion, Summer has a fantastic family, a
boyfriend, and she is very popular, but unusually, she isn"t
happy. I stayed up for hours reading this again and again,
mesmerised by Summer's passion for dance ( and perfection)

A the end, who wouldn't feel sorry for this sick girl who
worked so hard for something she didn't get? A part of me likes
this book, but the other hates it for being so obvious. I would
reccomend this to people who like Jaqueline Wilson, and reality
stories.

Marks out of 10: 8

This is a very girly book. I would say that if you like books
about snogging and girls fantasizing over boys you will like
this book as some matters were too girly but I didn’t like
reading it because there are relationships and dance but if
you like this type of thing read it. You may love it .

Chantelle from Year 5, Hayfield School:

the summer dream book is all about summer being a dancer and
her mum and dad getting a divorce however her mum finds another
man after she had got over her situation with her old husband
and then summer and her twin sister skye end up having a step
dad he proposes to their mum and she takes it but there older
sister honey does not like him at all i wouldn't say she hated
him but honey disliked him a lot because if he hurt her mum or
did anything bad even left her after how she was devastated and
in tears every second of the day therefore i think honey didn't
want it to happen again when they got married it changed a
little bit and when they went on their honeymoon everything was
ok between summer and her stepdad start to get along and so
they start run a business together a family business and they
all live there lives until he introduces his daughter cherry
and she comes a long...

Chloe and Vienna from Year 6, Montagu Academy:

Summers dream is probably the best book on the list. It is
about summer having a once in a lifetime dream to go to a very
posh ballarine school, but she has to pass a test so she
practises every day but she doesn`t eat her meals so she starts
to go very slim. Then one night she has a party and she breaks
up with her boyfriend and then at night she gets caught in a
fire and ends up in hospital. Her doctor says she has an eating
disorder. Chloe`s favourite bit was when they had a party and
got caught in a fire because it was the most jaw dropping bit!
Vienna`s favourite bit was when her doctor said she had an
eating disorder because it really warned other people that it
can happen to any one.

I wonder what you would rate it?

Marks out of 10: 10

Daisy and Megan from Year 6, Montagu Academy:

Summer's Dream is definatly our favourite book out of all of
the books from the begining. Our favourite bit was when
Summer's friends were trying to look out for her and were
trying to get her to eat but she wouldn't listen to them
because she had an eating problem, so she looked like a
skeleton!!! Oooohhhh!!! Our other favourite bit was when Summer
was going mad because of her mind telling her such horrible
things. The most romantic bit of the story was when Summer was
layed in the hospital bed and Alfey came to see her, he
wispered to her that it was actually him that sent her the
romantic flower for valentines day. The most upsetting bit was
when Summer's sister ran away after the terrible fire that she
accidently set off by a cigarete. We hope all you readers liked
this book review of Summer's Dream.
We read it.... We loved it.... So we DBAed it!!!!!!!

Katie from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I really like this book because it tells you about a life of a
girl and the life of this girl could happen to anyone. The main
character is Summer. Summer is thirteen years old and loves to
dance. Summer has three sisters, Skye is her identical twin
sister, Coco is her younger sister by a year and Honey her
older sister by two years. Around the beginning of the book we
meet Cherry, who ends up being Summer's new step sister. Cherry
is half japenese because her mum is from Japan and whilst
Cherry was a little girl her mum dies. At the very beginning it
tells about how much Summer loves dancing. Also there are some
family issues too. Summer has a boyfriend called Aaron. My
favorite character is Coco because even though there have been
some changes, she always happy.
