Drew Ferren, the last grey wolf gets captured and sold by
Kesslar (Goatlord) into slavery in Scoria. He fights his way
free with the other Werelords. Meanwhile the Wolfs council
tries to find Drew while being chased across the seas. Drew
called the Hawklords back from excile. They go to help King
Faisal of Azra against dog and cat lords. It is full of gore
and action. If you like fantasy books, then this is the book
for you!

louise from Year 8, Ash Hill Academy:

the book "shadow of the hawk" by curtis jobling is really good.
the book made me feel as if i was alongside the characters when
it all happened. it didnt take me long to read the book as i
was keen to start it. soon as i started the book i wanted to
read more as the book was easy to get into. i would give the
book 10/10 as it was a good adventure for me. i would
definitely read it again.

Charlie from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I liked the fact that when you read a bit of this book, it
starts to reate mystery and you start thinking of questions to
ask yourself, like, 'What is this strange beast?'
It wasn't the best book I have ever read. I couldn't imagine
what the characters looked like because for me, it didn't
describe them very much. I am not the best of readers so found
it difficult to read. I found it a little complicated. I think
that it would be so much better if they could make it a bit
more simple for people like me who like reading but it's not
their best subject.
I would reccomend this book to year 9/10 because it is a
difficult book and I didn't understand some of the words.
I would give this book a 4/10 becuase i couldnt get into the
story and I couldn't understand the meaning of some of the
words. the bits I could understand were good though, but once
again it's not the best book I have ever read.

Brooke from Year 7, De Warenne Academy:

This book is amazing. Ive just finished the first one in the
series and shadow of the Hawk is just as good. The only thing
wich is werid int this book is that they still fight with
swords.

Jack from Year 10, De Warenne Academy:

Awesome. drew is such an imaginitive character. I love the way
he starts as a slave and goes on to take over. just awesome I
need to read the other two books.

E from Year 7, The Laurel Academy, Mexborough:

Well how can I begin, at first I was buzzing to read the
book. But after a couple of chapters I lost interest. I found
some words in this book challenging. I really could not get on
with the book. But I would`nt say the book is that bad it just
was not my type of book, not my cup of tea.

Ellie from Year 8:

It is quite confusing and I think Drew should be dead from loss
of blood.

Molly. from Year 9, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This book was so filled with a lot of voilence, it was like
every chapter is a battle scene of one kind or another, from
gladiators in a Colosseum to the sacking and burning of
innocents in villages to a bloodthirsty "werecat" in need of
some sport to just your run-of-the-mill battles. The few
chapters without battles contained discrptions of communing
with the dead and dark magic. This was too dark for my taste. I
gave it 4 stars because of the violence which wasn't for me.
And also because it was the third of 3 books so far, this made
me have to concentrate more on the characters and get to speed
on who they were quicker, so I didn't miss any important scenes
and knew who was who. It was hard for me to catch up to speed
on this book but I maneged just. I didn't like this book and I
wouldn't suggest this to a friend because there was way to much
battle scenes in there which made me bored quite alot. I'm sure
that this book is great read to many people but for me, it was
too much.

Jennifer from Year 9, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I did not like this book much. There was too much action from
the very start and the characters were poorly explained. After
the first chapter I found myself confused by who the characters
were and what situation they were in. I know this isn't the
first book of the series, but other books I have read that are
not first in a series and they were not confusing and were
gripping from the start. This book I found it impossible to
finish. I'd recomend it to anyone who has read and enjoyed boks
that were earlier in the series.

this book is really CONFUSING! the book makes no sense at
all. if you want to read this book you need to read the first
and second books first!!!

Katherine from Year 8:

it is AMAZING. another pupil from our group has said she thinks
that he should be dead and he shouldn't because if she had read
the entire thing she might have realised that he is a werelord
and werelords have healing powers and he wasn't cut by a silver
covered sword.
