Kiely from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

Brothers are put to the death of each other. What I liked
about the book was that it was adventurous . My favourite
character was both of the brothers because they were mysterious
and adventurous. What I disliked about the book was that the
first opening sentence was boring and it took a very long while
to get into. I would recomend this book because it is wild and
creepy .

Estelle from Year 6, Montagu Academy:

This book isnt sutible for me because i dont really like it. I
dont like it because the words are too hard and i dont really
know what they meen. Ive seen quite a few hard words know. And
its going about lartan first then garnet and the so and so. So
i think the first chapter should be about larten and the next
chapter about gartnet. But i think it would make sence if i
read the other books first then read the brothers to death so
it would make sence.

Dylan from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

The first part of the book is a bit lovey dovey but it builds
suspense throughout the book. What I liked was that the words
were hard to read so it gave the book more of an edge. My
favourite character was Larten even though he is a vampire he
fits in as a human. I didn't like the paragraphs being so
long. I would recommend this book because it keeps you
interested and keeps a good flow to the story.

Estelle Bennett from Year 5, Montagu Academy:

If you have read the other books then read this on that's all I
can say. So READ THE OTHR ONES FIRST. Well that's what I say
anyway ...

This book all about a vampire called larten on a search for the
vampire scociety but unfortunaltly a terrible problem has
accurd and starts to effect his family as well as himself. My
favirot part has to be at the very begining when the two lovers
larten and alicia disscus there true effections for each other
as they are at the park together this is my favirot because it
realy pulled me in on the way larten is so in love that he
dosant care what people may think or say just becuse alicia is
alot older. This book is an amazing horror and i woulde
reccomend it to people who enjoy romance and adventure.

This is abot a vampire who falls in love with a girl named
alicia. The main charecture in this story is larten. This book is
a vampire horror.I think this book was okay but i would mabey
enjoy it more if it had illistrations to help explain the
story. The sort of people how would enjoy this book is people
who are in for a fright.

Abby from Year 9, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

The story is set over a wide period of time starting just after
the Nazi's came into power, but before World War 2 and ending
quite a while after The Second World War.
The story begins when Larten is happy and he's just left the
closest thing he has to a family, to fulfill his duty as a
vampire General. But then something awful happens and one of
the people he loves get murdered and he spends a loooong time
trying to get vengeance.
I think that Brother's to the Death was extremely well written
and I loved the ending; it was not what I expected at all and
it was really sad.
The main characters were Larten, Gavner and Wester, in my
opinion. My favorite character was Gavner because he was really
sweet and desperate to be excepted by Larten and he loved
Larten even though he was responsible for his parent's death. I
also liked Wester (people who have read the book will find this
fact weird) because he was broken by the murder of his family
and would do anything for revenge and my heart went out to him.
I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves
vampires (like me), but WARNING these ones aren't the sparkly
kind, far from it.The story is set at night, almost, all the
time (as Larten is a vampire) which is effective as it makes it
easier to imagine what you're reading.
The story is told in third person which is effective as it
tells you how the characters are feeling and what they are
thinking, which helps as most of the characters hide how they

I've always have liked the saga of Lantern Creepsley but what
I particularly like about this book is its not just a different
series but it goes into the saga of Darren Shan.

Naomi from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This book is another great one by Darren Shan! He is one of my
favourite writers because his books are dark and mysterious.
This is a good book but it wasn't the book for me, but if you
like vampires and evil stuff this is definitely the book for
you. My favourite character has to be Larten with no doubt, I
just think the way he deals with Vampaneze is great! My least
favourite character is obviously Vampaneze he's just so evil!
This book is jam packed with action and evil! I would defiantly
recommend it! Xxx

Jennifer from Year 9, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

A fantastic book about a vampire during the 1900's. I couldn't
fault this book, even if I tried. I loved every minute of
reading it and the characters are brilliant. The story is
unpredictable and gripping. I found myself laughing and crying
during the events that took place in it. The final twist is a
killer indeed!

Charlotte W from Year 8, Hayfield School:

I have read all the books in this series and the first book in
the saga of Darren Shan and they are all brilliant. This book
was my favourite of them all because there was a lot of
suspense and a brilliant shock reveal at the end; it had me on
the edge of my seat all the way through!! I totally understood
larten crepsley and the other characters because they are so
well described and the book has a great historical setting from
world war 2 to long after. This series is well worth a read if
you love great characters, adventure and suspense!!! 10/10!!!!

i thought that the book had too many parts [5], and the the
story was structured was a bit confusing.

Holly from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This book is quite hard to get into, but it defiitely is an
amazing book. My favourite character has to be Larten, he
takes a fight and is quite fascinating. The story line takes a
good role and I especially love the ending. I would defently
recommend this book

Rowan from Year 7, Adwick Park Junior School:

This Book is amazing it has a slow telling story line but the
way the book is told is different i have read plenty of other
Darren Shan books but this one was an extraordinary book.

I gave the book a 10 out of 10 because of the creepiness so if
your a vampire loving story reader then this is the book for
you. (nothing like twilight)
