kurtis from Year 7, Hayfield School:

Tanith low in the maleficent seven is the story of seven
sorcerers that hunt down cleavers and they make a desperate
effort to prevent the mysterious evil dark sorceress Darquesse
from ending humanity once and for all mwha ha ha ha haaaa!
and then there's tanith a highly trained combat mage, she was
scary enough when she fought on the good side but now she has a
taste of evil on her tongue she's something entirely different.
secretly building her own team of misfits and villains, Tanith
will have to keep one step ahead of her enemies if she wants to
protect Darquesse and do her part when the end of the world
strikes! this is an epic book for people who like action and
mysterious clue finding curiosity if you see this book with
your parents scream until you get it because it's definitely
worth it!

Ella from Year 5:

This book is extraordaniry leaking with action and adventure
the story is about Tanith Low a young sorcerer she has to help
Darquese a freind of hers but how? One women all on her own to
advance the end of the world? Tanith assembles a group of
villains to help so she can save Darquese and advance the end
of the world!!! but can she find out in Maleificent Seven

Derek Landy did a great job of using the same world as
skulduggery but making it so Tanith has a sweet taste for
evil.I would give this book a 9/10 beacause it was a very good
book but sometimes the story dragged on a bit to much but over
all great read for someone who enjoys mystery and action.

Dylan from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

The Maleficent Seven was a pretty good book. The language was a
little advanced and there was a wide variety of characters and
plots. It was a bit hard to finish, but other than that is was
a pretty good read. My favourite character was Sanguine because
he was a cool and collected character and he wasn't at all
bothered that he killed people for a living. I would recommend
this book to anyone who likes violence, weapons and girls who
chop people up with a katana sword!

The Maleficent Seven. Brilliant title. Brilliant book, as you
might expect from Derek Landy, author of the fantastic
Skulduggery Pleasant series. Tanith Low and her group of
villains face off against Dexter Vex's set of heroes. Both want
to find the 'God-Killers', a set of weapons that can
potentially kill Darquesse, the main villain of the Skulduggery
Pleasant series (and no, I'm not going to spoil those for you.
Go read them - they're great). The varied nature of both teams
results in a hilarious read that also manages to be fast-paced,
with plenty of action. A solid ten out of ten.

Owen from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

The Maleficent Seven is a really action-packed book full of
violence and is really addictive to read. I could not put it
down because it was so intriguing. I would recommend this book
to anyone who likes a bit of violence and a action-packed book.

Maggie from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

This book was different to most books. Most of the time its the
hero who is the main character but Tanith is actually the bad
guy which is different. It got me lost at one point with
changing people and setting all in one.

Abby from Year 10, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

The Maleficent Seven jumps right into the action as Tanith is
hunted down through the streets of London by Cleavers. I didn't
know the story following the Skulduggery series (as I didn't
like the first book), but, despite diving straight into the
action and being expected to know the reputation and
evilness/goodness of certain characters, this book was exciting
from start to finish.
The book is about the end of the beginning of the end of the
world in which two teams are formed, one by the newly-evil
Tanith (+ Remnant) and the other by good-guy Dexter Vex, to
steal/borrow the 4 existing God Killer weapons. The villains
intentions being to keep the weapons from being used against
Darquesse and the goodies' intention is to keep them from being
used by Darquesse, or those in league with her as she is
destined to show up and end the world, or the civilised world
anyway.
My favourite character was Sanguine as, although he is evil, he
is an epic character - just epic! He is just amazingly badass.
He has depth in character, as all villains should, and despite
being a sadistic killer and carrying a straight razor in his
pocket and no eyes, he would do anything to help or be with
Tanith Low (+ Remnant).
This book would, obviously, appeal to Skulduggery Pleasant
fans, but it would also appeal to readers who want a lot of
action with vampires on the loose and heads rolling, it may be
over the top, but it is enjoyable and exciting.
