This book is an adventure book about Bilbo Baggins and
he gets whisked away by Gandalf and treasure hoard guarded by a
very dangerous dragon. Bilbo Baggins is actually a wizard. My
favourite part was when Bilbo Baggins fought the dangerous and
fierce dragon and the draws trembled at the dragon. I would
recommend the book to people who like adventure books. I give
the book 9:10

Josie from Year 6, Saltersgate Junior School:

The Hobbit is a thrilling and suprising book. Bilbo Baggins is
nothing but suprised when Gandalf the wizard pops out of the
blue with a party of elves and dwarves take Bilbo out of his
hobbit hole and bring him on an adventure to the lonely
mountain to kill Smaug and redeem all Thorins treasure(The King
Thors son) and bring it back to their homes but on the journey
they have goblins trying to kill them and the wood elven people
trying to capture them. Can they survive everything thats going
on? Bilbo wishes to back in his hobbit hole with plenty of food
and sitting in his comfy armchair in front of his fireplace.

Anya from Year 7:

we were studying this book in English and I really enjoyed it!

it is about a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins and he hates
adventures. Gandalf the Wizard comes to his snug hobbit hole
and wants him to be a burglar on his and 13 dwarves mission to
steal their gold back from the evil dragon Smaug. they meet
various obstacles and it is a hard journey.

I haven't read all of it but I have seen both films in the
cinema and cant wait for the 3rd part to come out!!

Sophie from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

I have watched the Hobbit films. It's true when people say the
book is better than the movie. Bilbo is my favourite character
for reasons like he hates public socialisings. Like me.

Great read for anyone who likes Lord of the Rings.

Casey from Year 8, Ridgewood School:

It's been nearly 80 years since the Hobbit was
published, way back in 1937, but Tolkien's masterpiece still
remains an excellent read, even today. With the film series
rolling out, more people will hopefully pick up a copy, and to
them I have one thing to say. Read it. It's great. And once
you've read it, share it. Because there aren't many fantasy
books that come anywhere near close, even after seventy-seven
years.

Thomas b from Year 8, The Armthorpe Academy:

This film should be history, even looking at the cover is
adventorous. Let alone watching it, the actors played their
part like it was real life. I rated this book ten for obvious
reasons

Tommy from Year 8, The Armthorpe Academy:

There is not enough words to say that could discribe how
wonderful and mejestic this book is!

Jasmine from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

Unfortunately I couldn't get into this book. It has a lot of
detail and description and I think the story drags on a bit. I
have watched the film which was really long and not really what
I would choose to watch.

My favourite character from 'The Hobbit' is Gollum because he
is sneaky , funny and scary. The book is about Bilbo Baggins
(The Hobbit) and about his adventures with Gandalf and his
friends.

I gave this book a 5/10 because i found it too difficult to
read. I would recommend this book to high school students and
adults because younger children may not understand the story
and detail.

Esmee from Year 9:

If you - like me - enjoy reading books brimming with quests to
find hidden treasure buried in ancient lands, curious creatures
and riddles galore, The Hobbit is the book for you. I loved
travelling with Bilbo Baggins, the hearty dwarves and good old
Gandalf; it was so interesting, I could not put it down!

Chloe from Year 5:

The hobbit is a brilliant book it is very dicriptive and i
loved it i prefer the book because i love to read but the film
is great but the book is better because it is more dicriptive.
But it pulls you in when you think to yourself i am going to
read for 10 minutes you want to read for longer it is a great
book.

Marks out of 10: 9

Chloe from Year 7, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:

The hobbit was a great book i would recommend it. I loved the
book because it was more descriptive then the film, I loved it!
I prefer the book for that reason and I would strongly
recommend this book.
